2022 Presidential speech by Edwin Musiime to the young entrepreneurs

“We gather this year against a back drop of tough economic times uncomfortably woven by the pandemic effect twined with the economic challenges caused by several global factors.

Our presence in this place, united in purpose, and aware of the many young people and women in business we represent, is a grand expression of the unique faith we have in the opportunities that can be unlocked with a united mind for growth, social and economic prosperity.

We have unparalleled ability to draw together streams of wisdom from great minds and uniquely gifted Ugandan business men and women, and from diverse traditions of historical innovative entrepreneurial practice over the years that has shaped the economic destiny of humanity.

Our values and aspirations are expressed in our resilience in the face of the greatest adverse moments.

Africa continues to hold a premium entrepreneurial position globally and this should inspire us to further renew our hopes for a forward moving continent.

We stand together on the foundation of the belief in great results for a common shared economic future. This will continue to emerge from gathering unique young minds from hubs, incubators, entrepreneurship spaces and startups across the continent sharing and examining new trends and insights thereby unlocking opportunities.

I strongly believe that more access to opportunities, innovativeness, financial inclusion and a digital economy will go a long way to motivate the entrepreneurial drive among the young people addressing many of our foremost youths and women in business challenges including the high rates of unemployment.

Allow me celebrate the achievements of the Tony Elumelu Foundation is the which in the same spirit is empowering a new generation of African entrepreneurs, driving poverty eradication, catalyzing job creation across all 54 African countries, and increasing women economic empowerment.

Together for a better Africa.

May God bless Africa.

Vision

We are envisioned to ensure our impact as the light of the world and salt of the earth is felt globally.

Matthew 13-14 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

Mission

Our Mission is to Occupy till he comes-

Luke 19:13- “And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.”
